Nutrient Agar M001: is used for the cultivation of less fastidious microorganisms, can be enriched with blood or other biological fluids. It is the Microbiology Culture Media of Himedia Laboratories Pvt.
Directions of Nutrient Agar M001:
Suspend 28 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Dispense as desired and
sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes. Mix well before pouring.
Quality Control of Nutrient Agar M001:
Appearance: Cream to yellow homogeneous free flowing powder
Gelling: Firm, comparable with 1.5% Agar gel
Colour and Clarity of prepared medium: Light yellow coloured clear to slightly opalescent gel forms in Petri plates
Reaction: Reaction of 2.8% w/v aqueous solution at 25°C. pH : 7.4±0.2
pH: 7.20-7.60
Cultural Response: Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 35-37°C for 18-48 hours
Storage and Shelf Life:
Store below 30°C in tightly closed container and the prepared medium at 2 – 8°C. Use before expiry date on the label.
