Can estimate a planet’s magnetic field

A group of Russian and Austrian scientists published in the journal Science a new method to estimate the magnetic field enables a remote exoplanets – planets outside our solar system and orbiting another star – bearing planet HD 209458b name.

In the two decades since the discovery of the first planet outside our solar system, astronomers have been major advances in the study of this type of object. While 20 years ago, the discovery of a new planet is a big event for astronomers but now they can study the moon, air, climate and other characteristics of the this planet similar to that of the planets in the solar system. For both types of solid planets and gaseous planets, the important feature of them is magnetic and magnitude. Kristina Kislyakova Space Research Institute – Austrian Academy of Sciences in Graz, along with a team of international physicists first had to estimate the value of the magnetic moment and magnetic shape of an exoplanet (HD 209458b planet).
